Lake at Kabini

One of my favourite pics from a trip to the Kabini forest reserve. The trees look surreal. They were standing on dry ground before the Kabini river was dammed and created this lake.

Kabini forest reserve is located in Karnataka, a couple of hours from Mysore. The Jungle Lodges property in Kabini is one of the best government run properties we have ever stayed in. The focus is entirely on conserving the wildlife and the forest they live in. They have an excellent program to visit the forest reserve early mornings and evenings. We spotted sloth bear, elephants, peacocks, wild deer. The tiger, however, the most sought after, remained elusive.
